Metaphysical Prayer

Oh Devine Spirit whose presence fills all things,

Pierce my skull with your holy light that my mind might alight with understanding and chase only after your divine Kingdom. Purify my mind and grant me wisdom that I might know your will and make it my own.

Open my eyes to perceive beyond this world of flesh, that I might view others with your tender mercy and grace. Awaken my vision to all the hidden beauty which surrounds me,

Tune my ears to the melodious sound of your presence in all things,

Let every breath I take be one of gratitude, in praise and adoration of your generous spirit and glorious creation,

Fill my Mouth with words of justice and songs of peace that I might boldly proclaim your truths and continually sing your praise,

Guide my Hands that they might lovingly serve this world with compassion,

Synchronize my Heart with the rhythm of your everlasting patience,

Let not my appetite be for idle things of material in this world, but temper my consumption to that which is fair and pleasing to you,

Grant me the will and fortitude to resist carnal lusts, replacing them with the desire to exemplify your glorious will,

Make sturdy my feet that they might carry me along your path to wherever need abounds,

In this I pray… Amen.

What I’m up to...

Hello all,

I am posting this purely for time saving purposes so I don't have to explain my upcoming plans to each one of you individually. (apologizing in advance for my laziness)

Very soon, I embark upon my most exciting adventure yet! I leave for Kolkata (Calcutta), India October 1st. and will be there for 2 and a half months. While there I will be volunteering at Missions of Charity, the organization Mother Teresa started. There, they have a house for the Destitute and Dying and an orphanage for disabled street children. I have been wanting to do something like this for over a year now... AND I'm FINALLY GETTING MY CHANCE!!!

I hope to learn a lot while on this trip... I know it will be very intense, but I am excited about what I will learn experientially and spiritually while away. I want to experience truly serving others... for no reason other than love.

The decision to do this was very intimidating. I had to quit my 2 jobs, thus throwing away all of my precious financial security, to heed this call. So far, everything has been coming together nicely for my trip which affirms to me I'm moving in the right direction. I found a friend willing to sub-let my place while I'm gone and I've received some startlingly generous donations from my friends and family to help me along my way.

Thanks so much to you all for your love, encouragement, and support! Please keep me in your thoughts and prayers while I'm away...

Ps. Not sure how it will go yet, but I may post blogs while over there to keep you all posted on my activities. We'll see...
