Pushed and Pulled by Calcutta

I just watched this sedate, yet serene trailer for a film about Howrah train station in Calcutta.

See... it's kind of beautiful in a peculiar, hypnotic way.

Nearing the end of my stay over there, I couldn't wait to come home, to attend holiday parties, and to see the joyous faces of all my beloved friends, but being back has been weird... I can't find a job, I'm running out of money, and I'll go homeless before I let myself slip into debt. I feel out of touch with everyone, it's weird.

I miss the clamor of Calcutta's chaotic streets, the virulently pungent smells, and the spirit of a city so teeming with life against all odds.

It's strange to miss a place so badly that at one time I couldn't wait to leave...

I don't yet know how to get re-plugged in to life here. It's kind of hard to transition from working around such poverty and desperation to spending my afternoons online at coffee shops.

Hmm... I wonder what's next?
